The Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI) is a professional network of senior budget officials in African Ministries of Finance and/or Planning. CABRI was officially launched on 14 May 2008 in Maputo, Mozambique. On 3 December 2009, CABRI became a legal and independent membership based organisation. CABRI’s main objective is to promote efficient and effective management of public finances, which fosters economic growth and enhances service delivery for the improvement of living standards of African people. |

The governance structure of CABRI consists of the General Assembly, the Management Committee and the Secretariat. The General Assembly The General Assembly is the highest decision making authority of CABRI. It is composed of all the Member States of CABRI. |

CABRI was started in 2004 by budget officials in Mozambique, South Africa and Uganda. After interactions and exchanges between various officials, a seminar on budget reform was organised in South Africa in December 2004. A key objective of the seminar was to put forward a firm proposal for the establishment of a professional network that would support senior budget officials in Africa in the execution of their duties. |

The six founding members of CABRI - Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Rwanda, Senegal and South Africa - have ratified the international agreement that establishes CABRI as a legal body. All instruments have been deposited to the Secretariat and the international agreement enterered into force on 3 December 2009. CABRI is established as an international, independent and legal organisation. CABRI now has eight members, the six founding members as well as Mauritius and the Central African Republic. |
