Putting Aid on Budget
Aid is increasingly being delivered to recipient governments through sector-wide and budget support modalities. This emphasises the need for credible public financial management (PFM) systems that can ensure an effective and efficient allocation and spending of aid. The regional dialogue focused on ways countries can strengthen their public financial management systems and emphasised the increasingly critical role budget officials play in managing aid flows. The launch of the CABRI/SPA Aid on Budget Study opened the dialogue.
The dialogue addressed the following issues:
- Integrating aid in the budget process
- Budget support and performance assessment framework
- Fiscal policy in a scaled up aid environment
- Fiscal and budget transparency.
