On 23 – 24 June 2026, the National Treasury of South Africa hosted CABRI’s 16th General Assembly (GA) and 37th Management Committee (MC), which gathered to strategically examine the Secretariat’s implementation of the 2026/27 annual work plan and the budget.
CABRI is governed by three bodies: the General Assembly, the Management Committee, and the Secretariat. The GA is the highest decision-making body and comprises all 17 member countries. It sits annually to ratify CABRI’s work plan and budget, adopt audited outcomes, and provide overall policy direction.
The MC meets quarterly and is appointed by the GA for a duration of two years and consists of seven members in total - five member countries, while the Executive Secretary and the Chairperson of the GA are ex officio committee members. Its primary responsibility is to provide strategic guidance, oversight, and control, and monitor the Secretariat’s implementation of the annual work plan and budget.
Over the two days in attendance, we were joined by member countries: South Africa (the current GA Chair), Benin, Central African Republic, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, and The Gambia. The remaining member countries, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Lesotho, and Mauritius, joined online.
