The Parliament of Kenya is hosting the Sixth Annual Conference for the African Network of Parliamentary Budget Offices (AN-PBO). The forum which kicked off on August 27 and which will run until tomorrow, September 1 in Nairobi, focuses on experience sharing on how the power of the purse can be used effectively to tackle Africa's development challenges and the future of Parliamentary Budget Offices (PBOs).  

Executive Secretary Dr Kay Brown attended yesterday's proceedings which were dedicated to financial transparency and governance. Dr Brown was invited to present on the role of PBOs in supporting Parliament processes with budget or money bills amendments and act as a discussant for an ensuing session on the role of PBOs in supporting public participation in the budget process. 

The AN-PBO is a platform for African Parliamentary Budget Offices and similar institutions to share ideas and experiences about strengthening support for parliamentary fiscal oversight.
