On 6 August, Dr Kay Brown, Executive Secretary, CABRI and Mrs Soonsyra Lowe Nicolas, Executive: Operations, CABRI, paid a courtesy visit to the Ambassador of the Central African Republic (CAR) to South Africa, H.E. Andre Nzyapayeke.

The Central African Republic (CAR) became a member of CABRI in 2011. Since becoming a member country, CABRI has collaborated with CAR to strengthen its PFM systems, particularly in the context of the country's post-conflict reconstruction efforts.

CABRI's public financial management (PFM) support and interventions have covered a wide range of PFM challenges in Bangui, such as: budget credibility, the impact of accumulation of arrears, budget coordination, revenue forecasting, expenditure planning and cash management functions, institutional capabilities, accountability and transparency, and the establishment of legislative oversight and regulatory frameworks.

CAR is currently represented on CABRI’s Management Committee for the term 2025-27 by Mr Benjamin MBERIO, Director of Financial Control at the Ministry of Finance and Budget.

CABRI’s mandate and programmatic work span across the African continent and the full scope of PFM.

This meeting was an opportunity for Dr Brown and Mrs Lowe Nicolas to present CABRI and engage with H.E. the Ambassador in his capacity as the Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps in South Africa, which comprises all resident African ambassadors, high commissioners, and heads of mission based mainly in Pretoria. The dialogue focused on the importance of unified diplomatic efforts in achieving regional and continental objectives.
